The Chaplet of the Holy Wounds
March 15, 1992
Brother John Raymond
Francoise Chambon was born in France on May 24, 1844 on the farm
of her good Christian parents. When she was nine Our Lord appeared
to her all wounded and covered with His Precious Blood. This was on
Good Friday during the veneration of the Cross. The Infant Jesus
appeared to her at her First Holy Communion. From then on she always
saw the Infant Jesus in the Sacred Host. At twenty Francois entered
the Visitation Nuns at Chambery in France as a lay sister and
received the name Mary Martha.
Beginning in 1866 Sister Mary Martha was favored with frequent
visits from Our Lord, the Virgin Mary, the Souls in Purgatory and
the Holy Angels. Nearly every day Jesus Crucified appeared and
offered her the contemplation of His Sacred Wounds. Sometimes the
Wounds were resplendent and glorious. At other times the Wounds were
livid and bleeding. Sister was asked by Jesus to unite with the
pains of His Holy Wounds.
In 1867 Jesus requested Sister Mary Martha to sacrifice her sleep
to watch alone before the Most Blessed Sacrament. Although she spent
some nights in ecstatic prayer, other times she had to struggle
painfully during the long hours of the night against fatigue and
sleep.
During the month of June, while Sister was praying, prostrate
before the Most Blessed Sacrament, Our Lord appeared, showing her
the Wound of His Sacred Heart, saying "I have chosen My faithful
servant, Margaret Mary, to make My Divine Heart known and My little
Mary Martha to incite devotion to My other Wounds. "Our Lord taught
her to pray the "Chaplet of the Holy Wounds." He promised the
following for those who would recite this chaplet:
1. "With My Wounds and My Divine Heart you can obtain all you ask. My
Wounds will repair your wounds. My Wounds will cover all your
faults. Those who honor Them will have true knowledge of Me."
2. "Offer My Sacred Wounds often to Me for sinners because I thirst
for souls. At each word of the invocation that you utter I will let
a Drop of My Precious Blood fall upon the soul of a sinner."
3. "When you are in trouble or suffering have recourse at once to My
Sacred Wounds and the pain will be alleviated. These aspirations
should often be repeated near the sick and the dying."
4. "A sinner who will often say these invocations will obtain the
grace of conversion."
5. "Do not forget to offer My Holy Wounds for the souls in Purgatory
as there are but few who think of their relief. The Holy Wounds are
the treasure of treasures for the souls in Purgatory."

Wounds of Our Lord Jesus Christ to heal the wounds of our souls.
On each of the small beads say: My Jesus, pardon and mercy
through the merits of Thy Most Sacred Wounds.
Conclude with the Sign of the Cross.
